Tom McMillan started climbing at the young age of 14 and in the 11th grade, he hitch hiked across the country to Yosemite. By the age of 18, he had climbed two routes on El Capitan. Living in California for many years now, Tom continues to enjoy the route-finding and logistical challenges of climbing big walls in Yosemite Valley, including some of the longest and most difficult routes. Tom has also made numerous climbing expeditions to South America, the Alps, Alaska, Pakistan, Napal, Tibet and Xinjiang.

On May 16, 2004, Tom reached the summit of Mt. Everest with his friend and climbing partner Nawang Sherpa. Tom helped Nawang to get an artificial leg at UCSF in San Francisco after he lost his leg in 2000 due to a motorcycle accident in Kathmandu. When Tom had a chance to climb Everest, he invited Nawang, who became the first person with an artificial leg to climb Mt. Everest. Tom will be presenting a slideshow and videos of some of his more memorable alpine summits and accomplishments.
