“To Be Rescheduled” May 3: Jim Thornburg – The Choss Revolution

May 3: Jim Thornburg – The Choss Revolution Location: Epicenter, 3125 Coffey Lane, Santa Rosa Time & Date: Tuesday, May 3, 2022 @ 7:30 PM (Social hour and free beer for members at 6:30) We will re-schedule Jim Thornburg for another month. Jim Thornburg is a well known climbing photographer and Bay Area climbing guidebook author who is also an active route developer. There has been nothing short of a revolution in the Bay Area of many dedicated route developers who are finding and developing new crags, primarily in the north bay area. Why have these crags been overlooked by past generation? Well, the answer is most likely that these crags were initially chossy and very scrappy. But with lots of love and cleaning, these newer crags are enticing climbers old and new to search out these new areas. We are lucky to have Jim documenting these areas and providing exceptional guidebooks for these areas. Jim will share his involvement with this surge of new development, his newest Bay Area guidebooks along with stunning photos.

Climbing and Camping Trip to Bass Lake, Oakhurst, CA – November 5-7, 2021

We have booked a group campsite at Bass Lake near Oakhurst, CA for Friday night through Sunday, November 5 – 8 with the option to add a third night on Sunday. Bass Lake provides lots of recreation opportunities including camping, boating, paddleboarding, hiking, mountain biking and, of course rock climbing. There are many crags within an hour of Bass Lake including Fresno Dome, Shuteye Ridge and Tollhouse and Yosemite Valley is only an hour and a half away. If you are interested in attending, please email Darren at [email protected] to secure your spot. We have availability for 30 people.

October General Meeting – Cancelled

The October general meeting on October 5 has been cancelled. Unfortunately, we are getting off to a rough re-start after not holding meetings for over a year and a half because of Covid-19. Last month we had to cancel at the last minute when we found out that Round Table Pizza was not open for indoor dining. Additional changes and scheduling issues have also arisen in the last couple of weeks and we feel it is best to just cancel the October general meeting. But, hold tight. We do plan to hold a November general meeting and will have some exciting news to share very soon. Stay tuned and thank you for your understanding.
